Job Description:

Job Requirements:

Ochsner Health System, a not-for-profit, multi-specialty healthcare delivery system dedicated to patient care, research and education, seeks a Section Head of Electrophysiology and Pacing. Candidates must be certified in Electrophysiology and have 5 years of academic practice experience. Ochsner Health System’s Section of Cardiac Electrophysiology is growing, with a goal to become one of the Gulf South’s largest and most comprehensive centers for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. Areas of active investigation include risk stratification for sudden cardiac death, medical treatment of arrhythmias, and device-based therapy (including patient selection for, and optimization of, cardiac resynchronization therapy). We participate in a wide variety of multicenter clinical trials, at times originating such investigations and serving as the principal site. On the teaching front, our first medical school class started January 2009. The position and organization will afford you a superior quality of life (100% EP), a collaborative environment with your peers, generous compensation & benefits, and the flexibility and autonomy to expand the section. The physician will be based at the Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans (Main Campus), a 473-bed acute care hospital, named as a US News and World Report Best Hospital. Ochsner Health System was named to the American Hospital Association's "Most Wired" list for the past four years! EP is a component of a Department of Cardiology with 38 staff physicians. Ochsner Cardiology is a world recognized leader in wellness & prevention, interventional cardiology and heart failure & transplant cardiology. We have one of the largest fellowship training programs in the country. With a team of 4 well-trained and motivated electrophysiologists and a new investment in services and equipment, we are looking for someone to build a program. Now is the time to fall in love with New Orleans all over again! The cultural riches, sensual indulgences and unparalleled service that define the New Orleans experience continue to flourish, as they have for centuries. The most celebrated and historic core of the city, including Faubourg Marigny, French Quarter, Central Business District, Warehouse and Arts District, Magazine Street, Garden District, Audubon Park and Zoo and St. Charles Avenue, is thriving. More restaurants are open in New Orleans than ever before. Some people eat to live, but New Orleanians live to eat! As a result, the city offers one of the most incredible - and incredibly diverse - concentrations of exceptional dining and unforgettable cuisine in the world. Whether you are a fan of football, basketball, baseball, golf, running, yachting, fishing, horse racing or virtually any other competitive sport you can imagine, New Orleans is one of the nation's top places to compete . . . and enjoy watching competitions. Come see how the historic and cultural experience that has attracted millions of visitors for decades is as rich, charming and welcoming as ever!
